JBL Tune 500BT Wireless On-Ear Headphones Review

If you’re an avid music listener or movie watcher on your phone, you might have a good set of headphones, or you’re looking for an upgrade? JBL Tune 500BT Headphone is a good choice for you.

Here are all the details of JBL Tune 500BT Headphone.

JBL Tune 500BT Headphone specifications:

  • Wireless Bluetooth Streaming
  • JBL Pure Bass Sound
  • Colours: Black, dark blue, pink, white
  • Hands free calls
  • USB charging cable
  • 16H battery life | 2H recharging time and speed charge (5mins = 1H)
  • Lightweight, comfortable and foldable design
  • Multi-point connections
  • Voice Assistant Connectivity

JBL Tune 500BT wireless on-ear headphones are comfortable to wear, provide up to 16 hours of battery life with fast charging and offer a great-sounding bass response. A 3-button remote with a built-in microphone for controlling Android and iOS devices is also available. The Bluetooth on-ears design is the same as the wired version JBL Tune 500 and is characterized by a flexible suspension with tiltable, swivelable and retractable headphone shells. As a result, the headphones are space-saving, collapsible, easy to transport and adapt to your head very well. The soft padding on the hanger and shells provide a good fit with a firm hold that will not cause any pressure, even when worn for extended periods. The on-ears, which are primarily made of plastic, work well overall and details such as a metal-reinforced folding mechanism provide robustness.

Device Control

The on-ears support the Bluetooth 4.1 standard and offered stable ranges of about ten meters in a field test with various Android and iOS devices—a respectable result, especially since the pairing was so user-friendly. Holding down the power button turns the system on and puts it into pairing mode. As soon as the connection is established, the central remote button on the right headset shell serves to control the start/stop function as well as to accept and end telephone calls. Incoming calls can also be rejected by keeping the button pressed. For volume control, however, separate plus and minus buttons are available, which can also be used for track navigation. To do this, press and hold down the plus button to jump forward and backwards.

Sound Quality

JBL Tune 500BT has a high output, which offers bass-intensive listening pleasure even at low volume. The punchy, rich bass foundation reaches into both the low bass and the fundamental tone range but does not cover the middle and highs, so that the sound does not seem one-dimensional. Despite its presence in the lower frequencies, the sound image is clear and the on-ears have a well-structured stereo image, which makes them versatile if the match fits your own listening habits. At the same time, bass-driven music styles such as hip-hop, R’n’B and electro come into their own and benefit from high sound quality, so that listening to music is a fun experience.

The fast-charging, 300mAh lithium-ion battery provides up to 16 hours of operation. The battery level in combination with an iOS device is indicated by a display next to the Bluetooth symbol. If this is empty, the quick-charge function allows for a one-hour use after just five minutes of charging time, so that nothing stands in the way of spontaneous use. However, a full charge using the included USB cable takes up to two hours. The headphones do not have an audio input, though, so there is no possibility of wired use.

The perfect pair of on-ear headphones if you want great sound without breaking the bank. They offer plenty of listening time and are comfortable too.

Audio Quality

JBL Reflect Flow wireless headphones deliver a powerful audio performance with rich, deep bass and crisp highs for a great listening experience, regardless of the music genre.

The strong bass depth may be a boon or a bane, depending on the listener’s preference. While the inaccurate sound signature (that comes off as a bit artificial) of the boosted bass might be a dealbreaker for purists, it could be an advantage for gym rats who are motivated by thunderous bass during workouts.

The JBL Reflect Flow’s 5.8mm drivers deliver a powerful punch with a dynamic frequency response range of 20Hz to 20kHz.

The JBL Reflect Flow use the latest Bluetooth 5.0 standard, which means better transmission distances if you have a smartphone that’s compatible with version 5.0 of the wireless standard. There’s support for SBC and AAC audio codecs, which is great news for users of Apple iOS devices and is now also supported by the latest versions of Android. There’s no support for the apt-X codec, so that could be a deal-breaker for some people.

The Reflect Flow’s mic offers solid intelligibility. When someone calls you while you’re wearing a pair of JBL True Wireless headphones, the person on the other line will more likely understand what you’re saying.

The new JBL Reflect Flow earphones are housed in a chunky rectangular charging case and are available in either black and cerulean color accents.

With an IPX7 rating, the JBL Reflect Flow headphones are waterproof and sweatproof. They can withstand immersion in water up to 1-meter deep for up to 30 minutes.

This means the waterproof earphones are protected when you’re wearing them while jogging in the rain, or when you have to rinse it quickly to remove dirt. However, The JBL headphones are not safe for swimming. The charging case isn’t waterproof as well.

The Reflect Flow has two key features: the Ambient Aware and TalkThru technologies. Ambient Aware allows you to hear the surroundings while listening to music for safety purposes. The TalkThru feature lets you carry on a conversation without having to remove your Reflect Flow earphones. Just a touch of a button lowers the volume, so you can hear clearly what the other person is saying.

Fit And Battery Life

The Reflect Flow comes bundled with three different-sized ear tips made of silicon. The package also includes another trio of Freebit enhancers, which are essentially ear wings that fit over the earbuds and secure them in the ears.

The JBL Reflect Flow can play for up to 30 hours using the recharging function of the storage case. The earbuds will play for up to 10 hours on a single charge before they need to be put back in the case for a complete recharge.

The case holds enough charge for a further 20 hours of listening, which is more than enough for a week’s worth of commuting. Even better, a quick 10-minute top-up in the case will provide an hour’s worth of listening time, sufficient for a run around the park or a decent bike ride.

Sleek and Portable Design: Apollo Max is two times smaller than a traditional 10,000 mAh fast charging power bank. So it fits in virtually any pocket or bag. It easily goes with you anywhere and a quick charge is enough to satisfy your daily power needs for all your devices.

Quick Recharges in Just 19 Minutes: Unlike other power banks that can take up to 5 hours to recharge, Apollo Max uses a 100W USB-C PD input to fully recharge within 19 minutes. This ultra-fast “charge-and-go” feature gives you peace of mind and frees you from the anxiety that running out of power can cause.

10,000 mAh Capacity for All Day Power: 10,000 mAh is the most popular capacity for portable power banks. This will generally give you a couple of days’ worth of smartphone charges and normally cover your all-day usage for a few devices.

However, many people go with a smaller capacity because they feel that a typical 10,000 mAh battery pack takes up too much space and is heavy to carry. That’s where Apollo Max comes in.

It’s compact and lightweight with a dimensional footprint about the size of a typical smartphone. It makes the perfect companion to let you go farther, do more and stay charged.

60W USB-C Power Delivery: Apollo Max has a 60W USB-C Power Delivery output to quickly charge your MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, Nintendo Switch, and any number of laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other electronic devices that use the popular USB-C port.

18W USB-A Quick Charge: Apollo Max also supports up to 18W of Quick Charge 3.0 capability through its USB-A port for devices such as iPhone 11 Pro, iPad, Kindle, GoPro, you name it!

Airline Safe: 10,000 mAh is an absolutely airline-safe capacity. You can travel with Apollo Max on any airline without worry.

JetSafe Technology: Introducing JetSafe Technology, one of the secrets of Apollo Max’s powerful charging. Apollo Max uses dual compact batteries which reduces the possibility of being heated unevenly, increases longevity, lowers the cost, and increases the charging efficiency.

Greater Charging Efficiency: This technology ensures the world’s lowest power conversion loss. With an unbeatable charging efficiency of 96%, it outperforms the Qualcomm and TI standard by 10%.

Longer Lifespan: With a lifespan 3 times longer than regular power banks, you can enjoy an incredible 1,000+ recharges using fast charging, whereas other chargers typically can only be used 300 – 500 times.

Graphene Composite: Graphene Composite is another integral aspect of the design of Apollo Max. It has a much lower internal resistance and better conductivity and is added to the positive pole of the battery cell. As a result, the battery life can be prolonged when taking advantage of 100W input.

It also uses Graphene as a cooling layer to promote heat dissipation and eliminate the overheating issues during fast charging that are common with other batteries.
